{Baby} Showers of Love: Part 2—Lindsey

My sister-in-law, Lindsey, has been more like a sister or best friend to me over the past several years than a sister-in-law so when it came time to start thinking about a baby shower for her and her baby girl, I was eager to get going and had high hopes for the party. While the party wasn't entirely what I had envisioned when I thought I'd try to lead the charge, it certainly ended up a beautiful event! Lindsey's sister, Meredith, and I took the lead on the party planning but had to try to stay flexible in order to accommodate the ideas of so many other women in Lindsey's life who wanted to be a part of her special day. The end result—a collaboration between many such women—was something lovely that I hope Lindsey will always remember.

The theme inspiration for this party of about 60 came a little bit from the bedding Lindsey and Cooper had chosen for the baby's room which was both sweet and preppy in shades of pink, green, and black florals and houndstooth. Once we nailed the invitations, the rest of the decor kind of evolved on its own.

I was responsible for bringing all of the desserts for this shower so I focused my energy on the display of the baked goods and then tried to bring some elements in to the decor that would tie everything back to the invitations. I hand-stitched a few small fabric birds to put in a birdcage and also made a pennant bunting which I gifted to Lindsey after the shower. I hope it becomes a staple at the baby girl's future parties. The flag straws were also an attempt to tie the event back to the invitations. And, as usual, I volunteered for any designed, printed pieces that were needed like the game cards and pages for wishes and advice that we asked people to fill out during the shower.

Again, so many of the ideas for this shower came from Pinterest—I even stalked Lindsey's pinboards trying to find things she liked so that I could help make the day even more special for her. A lot of the other things that showed up at the party—like the themed centerpieces and envelope-addressing table—were ideas directly from the new mom-to-be.

And, yes . . . I certainly did reuse some of the ideas from Martina's shower for Lindsey's. Yes, even my dress. :)

And this is probably one of the nicest pictures of me with Chris' two sisters that we have aside from wedding pictures. Love these girls!

And, there's also a new little girl in this family that we are all loving . . . Madilynn Rae was born about 3 weeks early and has blessed all of our lives and melted all of our hearts. Boy do I love these two new little ones in my life! Having a niece and nephew and seeing my sister and sister-in-law become moms is absolutely amazing.
