This month in the Faith circle of do. Good Stitches, we'll be sending all of our blocks to Kristy of Handmade Retro in Australia. Last month, Kristy approached us about the idea of creating a quilt for a young lady in Queensland whose family has been affected by the massive flooding happening there.
As I sat down to make these disappearing 9-patch blocks yesterday, it really dawned on me how fortunate I am. I won't go into any detail about this (mostly because I really don't need any more tears!), but as I pulled fabric from my stash and then sat down to cut and to sew, I felt this overwhelming sense of gratitude for being part of the do. Good Stitches team. It's allowed me to not only do something I love (sew) and to stretch in my skills, it has also allowed me to reconnect to my desire to help others. This has certainly been a good thing for me.
Thanks for letting me sew beside you all.
